Rory and I spent three terrific days in Tolaga Bay and Gisborne. We have uploaded photos to our Facebook page for those interested in getting a feel for the event. In the next few weeks we will also be uploading interviews with some of the speakers to our Youtube channel. For those that are interested in the outputs and outcomes of the Forum we recommend the following three links:

1. The Royal Society of New Zealand has loaded videos of presentations onto their website. I particularly recommend session 2 featuring Dr Apirana Mahuika, Chairman, Te Runanga o Ngāti Porou who gave a wonderful speech about the difference between partnerships and relationships. Rory really recommends session 6 ‘Our shared future- Our people’- each of the speakers provided a really insightful and challenging commentary on science and society in New Zealand.

2. You can also visit the online discussion forum Pounamu – although the forum has closed you can still see the ideas. This site will close within a few weeks but forum organisers plan to run a competition to find the most practical proposals for advancing the best ideas.

3. Kim Hill chaired a series of panel discussions at the Forum and these will be broadcast on National Radio in the coming weeks.
