As part of the The Civics and Media Project, each day we will be sharing one speaker’s presentation from the Workshop 3 session titled ‘10 speakers, 5 minutes, 1 slide’. Workshop 3 was held on Thursday, 19 November 2020, at the Royal Society of New Zealand in Wellington.

Today, we share with you Dr Helen Sissons’s presentation. Speakers were asked to present three ideas on how we might achieve a well-informed civil society in 2030. Below are Helen’s ideas.

Project work programme for 2020
After the publication of the workshop booklet in early 2020, our first additional output will be in Policy QuarterlyThe Civics and Media Project has been given space for three articles in the May issue to articulate our findings and inform the policy community. The focus after that will be the World Journalism Education Congress, which will be held in Auckland from 14 to 16 July 2020. The project sponsors have been invited both to attend the conference and to present a session discussing the ways forward that were developed throughout the workshop series.
