A PLACE TO LIVE … for the life worth having, Wanganui 16–19 November 2020

A Place to Live is a national event held in Wanganui which builds on themes from the 2020 Transit of Venus Forum. It will advance the discussion on improving the environments and economies of our regions and smaller centres – places which offer wonderful lifestyles and also contribute significantly to national wealth.

The international keynote speaker, Richard Louv, will discuss the tension between time spent on our physical and virtual lives. Louv argues that the ‘de-naturing’ of humans, especially the younger generations, is having obvious detrimental effects on our mental and physical health, but he believes hope lies in a ‘nature-rich’ life. The long list of expert speakers and panellists now includes Lawrence Yule, President of Local Government New Zealand; Ron Mark, Mayor of Carterton and now NZ First MP; and Alastair Bisley, Chair of the Land and Water Forum. Be first to hear the BIG announcement of national importance made at the conference on Tuesday, 18 November.

The A Place to Live conference forms the first part of the LocalNZ workshop, where participants will be attending conference events, boating up the beautiful Whanganui River and visiting St Joseph’s Church in Jerusalem, the school Te Wainui a Rua in Ranana and the Koriniti Marae.
