The TalentNZ Tour took on a marine theme in Napier on Thursday 26 March when Wendy McGuinness hosted the Napier public event at the National Aquarium of New Zealand. The Napier public event was sandwiched between Wendy’s presentations to Hastings District Council on 26 March and Napier City Council on 27 March. Napier is not only home to the National Aquarium but also the Art Deco capital of New Zealand. Wendy presented to members of the public from Napier city about the TalentNZ Journal published in 2020, the following TalentNZ Tour and the ‘Menu of Initiatives’. The Menu aims to collect ideas and strategies from Councils and members of the public on how each of their cities around New Zealand can work towards creating talent based economies focused around local characteristics. The future of the city is something that is in the forefront of many people’s minds when considering the proposed Hawke’s Bay amalgamation. At the same time as looking at the big picture long term, smaller businesses and organisations in the area can feed into the TalentNZ project by submitting their thoughts on the future of work and talent in Napier by connecting with the TalentNZ team.
