As part of his PhD research, friend of the Institute Matthew Sorola is surveying accountants’ perspectives of social and environmental reporting. His research seeks to identify views amongst the accounting profession more generally. This information will then be used to reflect on those views and the impact this may have on operational aspects concerning the use of non-financial data.

Last week Matthew interviewed Wendy as part of the first phase of his research. His work is of special interest to the Institute given our previous work on Integrated Reporting, and support for the work of the International Integrated Reporting Committee. The Institute believes the adoption of Integrated Reporting by both organisations and countries, is a critical mechanism for improving global governance of resources, human health and well-being.

Matthew is completing his PhD at the School of Accounting and Commercial Law at Victoria University, we look forward to the results of his research.
